Protecting Savannah, GA Foundation Walls from Flood Pressure

During heavy rains, floodwaters can impose extreme loads against foundation walls. The force of floodwaters and waves can cause a foundation wall to cave in or collapse. The most effective way to blunt this destructive force is to provide a path through foundation walls so that water pressure can equalize inside and outside the foundation. SmartVent Flood Vents perform this task.

Wet Crawl Space Encapsulated with CleanSpace in Savannah, GA

This Savannah, GA homeowner contacted Lowcountry Foundation Repair when he became concerned about the amount of water that was underneath his crawl space after a storm. We scheduled him for a free appointment with one of our inspectors.

Our inspector, Brian Townsel, carefully took notes and images of the crawl space to show the homeowner. He suggested that the crawl space should be encapsulated with our CleanSpace, a seven-layer reinforced polyethylene that isolates the home from the earth and reduces humidity levels. We also installed our SaniDry Sedona, a dehumidifier that maintains the relative humidity in the crawl space to prevent moisture and microbial growth.

After just three days of installation, the crawl space was encapsulated and safe from flooding stormwater. The homeowner was thrilled!

Hurricane Water Floods Savannah, GA Crawl Space

This Savannah, GA homeowner contacted Lowcountry Foundation Repair after Hurricane Irma hit coastal Georgia in 2017. He became concerned when he noticed that stormwater had come into the crawl space and was beginning to damage his home's foundation. He called and scheduled an appointment for a free inspection.

Lowcountry Foundation Repair sent Dustin Farthing to Savannah to inspect the crawl space. The homeowner was interested in a new vapor barrier to protect his crawl space, so Dustin suggested CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a seven-layer reinforced polyethylene that isolates the home from the earth and reduces humidity levels.

Cracked Kitchen Tile a Sign of Foundation Settlement in Savannah, GA

Laura G. of Savannah, GA had cracked tile in their kitchen floors and cracks appeared in the drywall in the hallway. Their house was going up on the market soon and they didn’t want the new owners to inherit their issues, or worse yet, lose money in the sale.

Laura searched online for flooring issue fixes but was overwhelmed with information. One night she was sitting at home and opened a pack of RSVP coupon cards that had come in the mail. One was a postcard for
Lowcountry Foundation Repair. Laura picked up the phone and called the next morning for a free inspection. The inspector noted high moisture and microbial growth in the crawl space. The moisture was causing rotting wood and insulation to fall down. The inspector recommended galvanized steel SmartJacks to add additional support to her foundation under the subfloor, as well as additional PowerBrace supplemental beams to support, level and stabilize the home’s sagging subfloor. Laura agreed and the project was completed in just one day.
