A couple of online searches later, Erin thought the smells might be coming from the crawl space under her home. She decided to call Lowcountry Basement Systems, the crawl space repair experts, for advice.
Lowcountry Basement Systems sent an inspector to Erin’s home. The inspector documented mold, rotting joists, wet debris and a relative humidity of 95 percent! It was advised to encapsulate the crawl space from the earth to reduce the moisture and remove the humidity from the crawl space.
The team at Lowcountry Basement Systems removed the debris and installed a Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation System to seal the crawl space. The system lowered the relative humidity, preventing mold from growing. The musty smell was gone within a week and she was thrilled.
This Savannah, GA homeowner was reminded of her driveway problems every time she came home from work. Parts of her concrete driveway had cracks running through it, other sections of the driveway had sunk, creating bumps when she parked her car.
After seeing an ad for Lowcountry Basement Systems concrete repair services in the Savannah Morning News, she called for a free inspection. An inspector from Lowcountry Basement Systems recommended fixing the driveway instead of replacing it. PolyLevel could be injected under the driveway to lift the sinking section, eliminating the bump and tripping hazard. PolyLevel foam expands immediately to many times its liquid volume to create a powerful lifting force, and can be driven on in just 15 minutes!
With a level driveway, NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks, was used to seal the remaining cracks in the driveway, and in less than a day her tripping hazard was removed. She was thrilled with the results!

Spencer E. of Savannah, GA contacted Lowcountry Basement Systems after he became worried his home might flood from the approaching hurricane. Spencer was concerned about the abundant rainfall and high tides, he didn't want his home to be washed away or damaged by a flood.
Lowcountry Basement Systems' inspector, Brian Hunter, went to Spencer's home and reviewed his flood insurance declaration and elevation certificate. After an inspection of the home, Brian suggested that Spencer have Smart Vents installed on his garage door.
Brian explained the vents would allow water to enter the garage after the flood waters reached four inches. The Smart Vent design allows water pressure to be equalized on both sides of the foundation wall (so water must be on the inside too), protecting his foundation. Smart Vents are the most advanced protection on the market and are ICC-ES certified that protect houses and buildings during floods by preventing water pressure buildup that can destroy walls and foundations.
In one day, the Smart Vents were installed and Spencer's home was protected. Spencer said he felt a lot better with the hurricane approaching.

Terry R. of Savannah, GA had a problem with his floor. In the past, Terry worked with a different company to add support beneath his subfloor. After a little bit of time, Terry experienced the same problems as before, so he called Lowcountry Foundation Repair for a free inspection to evaluate what may be happening.
Terry told the Lowcountry Foundation Repair inspector that he wanted to fix the problem permanently. Terry worried that it would be too difficult to install the work, as the crawl space was very short and there wouldn’t be much room to do the work. The crawlspace was at least 16 inches tall, making it difficult, but still possible to install the work under the home.
The inspector identified two main locations where SmartJacks could be installed to solve the problem. The Lowcountry Foundation Repair team was able to squeeze in the tight crawl space and install the support. Terry has thrilled with the results and the professionalism of the team!
Sereen S. of Savannah, GA had a problem with his foundation. His drywall developed a long crack, and his hardwood floors were sinking in some places. Beneath his feet, the subfloor was experiencing many problems.
After researching the problems online, Sereen found Lowcountry Basement Systems and made an appointment for an inspector to go to his house. Billy Brandenburg went to Sereen’s house and documented his findings. Billy saw the floors sagging in the crawl space; he also noted the cracked and failing joist that were no longer supporting the subfloor.
Sereen’s foundation needed additional support, explained Billy. The floor was sinking, and the sinking action caused the walls to pull apart, cracking the drywall. Billy showed Sereen the photos he took in the crawl space. Billy designed a custom long-term foundation solution Sereen’s home. After it was installed Sereen noticed a difference right away. Three support posts, SmartJacks, and two PowerBraces were installed to provide the house with the support it needed. Lowcountry Basement Systems also installed new joists to replace the broken ones.

For far too long, Betty R. of Savannah, GA had been suffering from nasty, musty odors in her home caused by mold growing in her crawl space. The aromas were so pungent that Betty purchased three dehumidifiers for her first floor to combat the hostile mold problem. The equipment ran all hours of the day with no avail. Betty continued to suffer from to the stinky smells, and her health began to suffer.
The dehumidifiers removed moisture from the air. However, they were not able to address the cause of her problems, the mold and moisture in her crawl space. Betty heard of Lowcountry Basement Systems from her neighbor who had similar problems until we fixed them, but it took Betty a little over a year to call to us.
Why?
She assumed that her problem would cost just as much as her neighbors, so she scrimped and saved for a year. When our inspector went to her house, Betty was ready with check-in-hand, but she was surprised to find out that the solution to her mold problem wouldn’t cost as much as her neighbors’. Her crawl space was 40 percent smaller. Consequently, she would not need as much labor as her neighbor, bringing down the quoted price.
Betty's problem was solved when we installed a complete encapsulation system in her crawl space. She had the entire area covered with Cleanspace liner. SilverGlo paneling was installed along the crawl space walls; a Sani Dry dehumidifier collected moisture in the air, then pumped it out from under the home. A sump pump was also installed to remove standing water.
When she found out that she could have called a year ago and financed the project, she felt like kicking herself for not calling us sooner.
