A homeowner in Madison, GA first noticed there was an issue with their home when they were walking across the entryway area and felt a dip in the middle of the floor. They measured the relative humidity level at above 85% and the wood moisture level at nearly 20%, both dangerous levels for the health of the home. mold and wood rot starts to take place only at 60% relative humidity and mold starts to grow on wood at 16%. There was condensation collecting on the AC ducts in the crawl space dripping down onto the existing vapor barrier, leaving large puddles of water trapped in the crawl space. There were multiple joists and a main beam that was rotten. Our inspector recommended having a CleanSpace Encapsulation System installed to protect the crawl space from high humidity, then having compromised wood replaced or repaired with new treated wood, then supported with the SmartJack Support System to both stabilize the floor and potentially lift it back to its original level position.
