This home in Bonaire, GA had a bathroom that had been prone to shower plumbing leaks for years. Eventually, the shower became unsafe to use and had to be removed, revealing a large hole in the floor where the wood had completely rotted away. Our team was able to replace the rotten floor with new treated wood. Now the homeowner can have the bathroom fully renovated with the foundation established! Another recommendation by our inspector for later on as well was to have a CleanSpace Encapsulation System installed, that way if there ever are any plumbing leaks in the home, our system has the ability to alert you as well as remove water from heavy rains, protecting the floor from wood rot and mold growth.

The water leaked out and soaked into the wood surrounding the shower, rotting the subfloor completely from constant exposure to water.

This is a view of the wood rot damage from underneath in the crawl space. Notice the staining on the concrete as well from mineral deposits. The water would pool in the crawl space and cause the humidity to increase, contributing to rot in other areas of the floor as well.
