Moisture Damage and Sagging Floors
The first sign of foundation settlement this homeowner noticed was her sagging floors that were showing signs of moisture. The floors became so weak that someone put a hole in the floor just by stepping on it.
Wet and Dirty Crawl Space
The moisture was coming from the crawl space where humid air was building up condensation on floor joists and beams, weakening them and causing sagging floors.
Lack of Support
In addition to the moisture, the concrete piers were lacking support for the subfloor. Our inspector suggested that she have a SmartJack installed, a galvanized steel column support that lifts sagging floor joists.
A Level Foundation
After the SmartJacks were successfully installed, the foundation now had enough support and the floors were no longer sagging!
