View Photo Gallery

Challenge

Lowcountry Basement Systems was selected to work with New South Construction to secure the foundation of a new retaining wall. The wall was to be 120 feet long and would run along the side of a drainage ditch between existing homes and a new construction site. Helical piles were required to secure the wall and prevent sinking over time.

Solution

Lowcountry Basement Systems installed 16 HP288 New Construction Helical piles prior to the installation of the wall. Helical pile caps were attached to the top of the piers after installation. Concrete was poured over the caps to assist in preventing the retaining wall from future leaning or settling.

The helical piles were installed to an average of (10) kips allowable with an ultimate capacity of (20) kips. Pier depths ranged from a minimum of 10 ft. to a maximum of 50 ft.

The project was completed in two days.
