Slab Pier in Warner Robins, GA

Challenge

This single family home was constructed in 2003 with masonry (brick). The front patio consisted of an exposed, floating concrete pad with the brick face of the home laying on top of the patio slab, without continuous support to the footer. The weight of the brick, combined with water saturating the dirt base underneath, caused settlement along the house. Although the actual house foundation was not affected, the brick face and patio slab were sinking.

Horizontal cracks were observed in the exterior brick, gaps under the door frame, the brick face was pulling away from the home, and the patio slab was sinking.

Solution

Lowcountry Basement Systems installed seven (7) Slab Pier Brackets to permanently stabilize and lift the settled area of the home. Pier depths ranged from about 4 ft. to 13 ft. On average, piers were driven to 1800 psi. Installation resulted in the cracks closing in the exterior brick and around the door frame. The settled slab was lifted back toward its original elevation.

The project was completed within one (1) day and the area was cleaned and left in excellent condition.
