1850's Home is Stabilized by Lowcountry Foundation Repair
Challenge
In 2017, Monica K. of Hawkinsville, GA purchased a home that was built around 1850. During the inspection, she noticed a crack in the porch and wanted to stabilize the floors inside the home. She called Lowcountry Foundation Repair for help.
Solution
Lowcountry Foundation Repair sent an inspector to do a thorough investigation of the foundation. The inspector noted the front porch was sinking. It was recommended to stabilize the porch before more settling occurred.
The solution involved installing 14 helical piles around the front porch. To stabilize the old wooden floors of the home, the inspector recommended installing a PowerBrace (I-beam that has a rust-resistant zinc coating), supported by two SmartJacks (SmartJacks are made of galvanized steel and can support 60,000 lbs.).
The project required two separate crews to complete, however, it was finished in three days. Monica was thrilled that Lowcountry Foundation Repair was able to help her 168-year-old home.
