Before Encapsulation
Here is an area of the crawl space before the CleanSpace Encapsulation System was installed. The existing vapor barrier was a thin, easily tearable material that was not sealed to the piers and walls.

High Wood Moisture
When the wood moisture level is too high, mold and wood rot will take place, leaving a noticeable musty smell in the home and weakening the wood supporting the floor.

Water Dripping From Ducts
When water drips from the ducts in the crawl space, this is a sign that warm humid air is moving into the crawl space. The cold ducts condense the humidity into water droplets and it drips down, often on top of a vapor barrier, now trapped in the crawl space. This is why it is so important to seal off the crawl space from outside air.

After Encapsulation
Here is what an area of the crawl space looks like after encapsulation.

Sealed Up the Walls
The vapor barrier is sealed up the walls because moisture can push its way through the wall or an opening like a vent and enter the crawl space.
