Mold Under Vapor Barrier
The existing vapor barrier was not effectively sealing out moisture and mold was also growing under the vapor barrier. CleanSpace Encapsulation solves this issue.
Close View of Mold Growth
Here is a close-up view of the mold growing underneath an unsealed vapor barrier with no means of allowing the water to drain or be pumped out of the space.
High Humidity
In the crawl space, the humidity was measured at 61 percent. Mold and wood rot can take place at this level of humidity.
Subfloor Mold
The subfloor had mold growth from having direct contact with wet subfloor insulation that had soaked up humid air. The subfloor was checked and was not too damaged yet. It can be saved with a CleanSpace Encapsulation.
After CleanSpace Encapsulation
The vapor barrier is sealed to the walls and piers to keep out water and humid air. The crawl space vents are sealed with Foamax insulation as well to keep humid air out.
Crawl Space Entrance
This is the appearance of the crawl space entry door with the vapor barrier installed.
Sump Pump Installed
A sump pump is installed to pull in groundwater and pump it out of the crawl space, helping to prevent mold from standing water.
Wood Moisture After CleanSpace
After the crawl space was encapsulated with our CleanSpace Encapsulation System, the crawl space wood moisture was checked later on, and measured to be a safe 12%.
