This home in Richmond Hill, GA had cupping floors and tile cracking. The homeowner was very frustrated about this problem. They called Lowcountry Basement Systems to see what could be done to resolve this problem for good. Our inspector came out and looked at the problem signs. What had happened was, the moisture in the crawlspace had weakened the subfloor, causing it to dip down in less supported areas that would be fine had there not been a moisture problem. The inspector recommended an installation of the SmartJack system to bring the floors back to level and an encapsulation to stop the problem at the source. The homeowner was very pleased with the results.

Moisture Causing Decreased Wood Quality

There is visible degradation of the wood supporting the floors from overexposure to moisture. Over time, if not treated, the floors would continue to bend further into a cupped shape.
