Failing Moisture Barrier
This crawl space had moisture issues as a result of being improperly sealed with a cheap thin plastic vapor barrier. Here is the first of 3 failing dehumidifiers in this crawl space.
Poor Sealing
The vapor barrier was not properly sealed around the crawl space piers. In the background is the second of 3 failing dehumidifiers.
Walls Not Sealed
The walls in the crawl space appear to be sealed at first glance, but this is actually just unsealed plastic holding fiberglass insulation - that is not waterproof - to the walls. As water seeps through the walls, the insulation gets soaked and breeds mold. It was hazardously allowing moisture and moldy air into the space.
Drainage Matting Installed
The failing cheap vapor barrier system was removed and the first step of the CleanSpace Encapsulation System was installed - drainage matting. This layer installed over the ground in the crawl space allows water that seeps in under the vapor barrier to drain properly.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
Above the drainage matting layer, a CleanSpace vapor barrier is installed. CleanSpace vapor barrier is a multi-layer vapor barrier that is reinforced to prevent tearing or being easily pulled down from the walls when crawled on. The material even has its own insulative value and heat resistance built in.
SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier
Here is one of 2 SaniDry Sedona dehumidifiers installed in the crawl space. The SaniDry Sedona was designed to solve the design issues presented by the top crawl space dehumidifiers on the market, making the SaniDry the best choice overall for crawl space dehumidification.
Wide View of Encapsulation
Visible on the back left is the second of 2 SaniDry Sedona dehumidifiers installed in this crawl space to effectively control the moisture level in the crawl space.
Sealed Properly Up the Walls
With the wet moldy fiberglass insulation removed from the walls, the CleanSpace vapor barrier is properly sealed up the walls, using pins and sealant at the top edge of the barrier to keep moisture from rising up into the space.
Sealed Effectively Around Ducts, Pipes, & Wires
Even when there are obstacles that would generally impede a good proper seal to be made to keep out moisture, our teams take the time to seal the vapor barrier properly around things like air ducts, pipes, and wires that go through the crawl space wall.
