Crawlspace Before 1
Note the duct in the back. Over time, moisture can cause condensation that drips and forms a puddle in the crawlspace. This can be a breeding ground for new mold and bugs.
Crawlspace Before 2
Note the insulation laying on the ground. This is caused by moisture soaking the insulation until it falls apart or is too heavy, causing it to fall. Even if it doesn't fall, then the soaked insulation will sit up against the wood subfloor, rotting the wood.
Crawlspace After 1
Encapsulation transforms the crawlspace into a dry, moisture controlled space, preventing the ducts from dripping with condensation.
Crawlspace After 2
The moisture barrier covers both the ground and a portion of the wall to keep moisture from getting into the space.
