Chuck N. of Hilton Head Island, SC saw an advertisement on tv for Lowcountry Basement Systems' crawl space encapsulation services. Chuck decided to call and schedule an inspection of his crawl space. At the time he wasn't interested in encapsulating his crawl space, he just wanted his crawl space to look nice. During the inspection, mold was spotted. Lowcountry Basement Systems sealed off the home from the earth, encapsulating the crawl space. The system would remove water from the crawl space and reduce the humidity under the home, stopping the mold from growing.

Spray Foam Didn't Help

The spray foam that Chuck had previously installed didn't stop mold from growing on the joists.

Relative Humidity Under the Home

The relative humidity under the home was too high. It created the perfect environment for mold to grow.

Before the Crawl Space Encapsulation

Though the soil may look dry, it's not. The earth is constantly releasing moisture vapor and it gets trapped in the crawl space. The wooden subfloor, joists and beams absorb - mold grows, and the wood eventually rots.
