High Tides and Marsh Waters Sealed off by CleanSpace Encapsulation in Savannah GA
Challenge
Joe-Ann B. of Savannah, GA owned a home on Dutch Island. The home backed up to the marsh. In 2016 Hurricane Matthew flooded the area. The hurricane pushed the marsh waters into her crawl space and raised the water table. The soil in her crawl space became very wet and formed puddles of water.
Joe-Ann was concerned about the possibility of further flooding, so she called Lowcountry Foundation Repair.
Solution
To prevent further damage to the home, a Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation system was installed in her crawl space. After removing the damp, sagging insulation, all vents to the crawl space were sealed with an insulating material. Foam insulation panels were installed along the foundation walls to insulate the crawl space. The crawl space floor was covered with 1,850 sq. ft. of drainage matting to channel water to the perimeter where it would be collected and pumped out via TripleSafe Sump Pump, capable of pumping 6,000 gallons of water per hour.
In addition to the drainage matting and the TripleSafe Sump Pump, CleanSpace Liner was installed to seal off water from the ground, drastically reducing the humidity in the crawl space. A SaniDry XC dehumidifier removed water vapor from the air to keep the crawl space dry all year round.
