Historic Home in Allendale, SC Has Waterproofing and Foundation Issues Fixed
Challenge
Mrs. E of Allendale, SC owned a home listed on the National Register of Historic Places. She had two problems with her historic home: the hydro-static pressure pushed water into her walkout basement, and her balcony was in need of additional support.
Mrs. E called Lowcountry Basement Systems for a free inspection of her home.
Solution
The saggy balcony was fixed by installing a PowerBrace underneath the wooden deck, supporting multiple planks simultaneously. A SmartJack capable of supporting 60,000 lbs of pressure was installed beneath the PowerBrace Beam, lifting the balcony back into place.
The foundation was lifted using one 228 helical pier, to alleviate hydro-static pressure. WaterGuard was installed inside the basement perimeter along the areas where water collected. The water will drain to a SuperSump to be removed from the home. To remove moisture from the air, a SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed with the collected water pumping to the sump pump.
It was a custom solution to address the waterproofing and foundation issues the historic home had. The job was completed in two days.
