New Construction Piers for Church in Bluffton, SC
Challenge
Clayton Construction Company from Spartanburg, SC requested the services of Lowcountry Basement Systems to install new construction helical piles for the foundation of a new church building in Bluffton, SC.
Solution
Lowcountry Basement Systems installed 55 new construction helical piles, 7' leads and extensions with a hydraulic-powered, rotery-torque drive unit. (110) Shaft extenions were added to reach design torque/depth and coupled with manufaturuers supplied hardware.
The helical piles were installed to (30) kips as specified with an approximate depth of (26) feet.
Tension tests were performed to confirm capacity of the porposed helical piles.
The pier caps were installed 6" below the final floor level to allow the foundation to be tied in to the existing building.
