New Home Purchase Brings Crawl Space Project in Warner Robins, GA
Challenge
Tracy W. of Warner Robins, GA just purchased his home. During the inspection, he noticed the photos of the crawl space. The area was in disarray. Tracy wanted the professionals at Lowcountry Foundation Repair to inspect the currently installed vapor barrier to verify it’s working order.
The vapor barrier had not been installed properly and was not performing to adequately protect the home from mold, wood rot and did nothing to remove the moisture from the crawl space.
Lowcountry Foundation Repair designed a solution to fix and protect Tracy’s new home.
Solution
Lowcountry Foundation Repair first removed the plastic liner, leaves, and other debris. The ground was covered with CleanSpace liner was used to cover the earth, crawl space support pillars, and the foundation walls. A total of 2,450 square feet were needed. The 20-mil thick, seven-layer, cross-woven material would significantly reduce the humidity and keep the water from reaching the crawl space.
A SmartDrain was installed at the lowest point in the crawl space to return the water collected to the earth. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and condensate pump were installed to reduce and maintain low humidity in the crawl space. The 15 crawl space vents were sealed.
The job took four days to complete.
