Saggy Floors in Mount Pleasant, SC Lifted Back into Place
Challenge
Curtis W., of Mount Pleasant, SC was getting ready to sell his house and needed to take care of a few things before he listed the home. Curtis had three things to fix: the saggy floors in a hallway, the splitting sheetrock, and the weak floors in the kitchen. He called Lowcountry Foundation Repair to help him maximize the value of his home.
Solution
Lowcountry Foundation Repair sent an inspector to Curtis’ home. The inspector used his laser level to measure the floor at various parts in the home. He also examined the subfloor in the crawl space. After a thorough review that lasted two hours, the inspector recommended installing a SmartJack System that included a galvanized steel I-beam, called PowerBrace.
SmartJacks are high-capacity, fully adjustable steel piers capable of supporting loads greater than 60,000 lbs. They are designed to stop settling and can lift subfloors. Each SmartJack is cut to length and can be adjusted in the future.
The inspector recommended installing a PowerBrace across one section beneath the kitchen, supported by two SmartJacks and a single SmartJack under the hallway floor. The installation took one day to complete. The foundation was stabilized and the subfloor was lifted back into place. Curtis was happy with the results and listed his home for sale.
