Sinking Addition is Lifted Back into Place_Saint Simmons Island, GA

Challenge

Matt L. of Saint Simmons Island, GA called Lowcountry Foundation Repair to help him with his foundation settlement problem. Matt noticed new cracks in his drywall and some of his doors would not shut properly. Last year, he said, the doors worked just fine but lately, something just wasn’t right.

Solution

Lowcountry Foundation Repair sent an inspector to Matt’s house to research the settlement issue. The inspector identified the problem. The new addition to the home was sinking.

The inspector recommended installing four steel zinc plated 8’ PowerBrace beams in a continuous line running across multiple joists. The PowerBrace beams would be supported by a total of six SmartJacks, each capable of supporting 60,000 lbs of pressure.

The SmartJacks were cut to custom heights prior to installation. The project took one day to complete.
