A Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation is The Solution
Challenge
Emily K. and her husband of Warner Robins had a problem with moisture in their crawl space. Due to excessive moisture, the floors began to bow. Odors permeated the home and the couple invested “godly amounts of money” to the fix the problem.
The bowing floors cracked the tile in one bathroom, and the floor had to be replaced. Emily sought help from other companies. A heavy plastic linear was laid in the crawl space. Five crawl space fans were installed, but instead of fixing the problem, things got worse. Emily’s home was only 9-years-old.
Solution
Brian Townsel, of Lowcountry Foundation Repair, inspected the crawl space and the floor above. Brian explained the moisture problem and recommended a Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation of the crawl space. To do that, the crawl space would be sealed off from the earth.
The fans sucking warm, humid air in the cold crawlspace were turned off. The crawl space vents were sealed. The heavy plastic liner was removed. CleanSpace linear, 4,000 sq. ft. was installed over the dirt and crawl space. The concrete piers and crawl space walls were wrapped with linear as well.
A SmartSump was installed as well as an UltraSump Battery Back-Up System to provide power to the pump in case the power at the home went out. Water collected would be pumped through a discharge line away from the foundation of the house. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was placed in the crawl space to remove moisture from the air. Finally, two EverLast CleanSpace doors were installed in place of the old crawl space doors.
With the crawl space completely sealed off from the earth, Emily and her husband could finally put these issues behind them.
